The Trout Creek Fire Department in Newton County says it’s the first time in their history that they’ve ever landed two helicopters at their fire station. That was the scenario following an ATV crash which occurred shortly before 4:00 Sunday afternoon on County Road 3073 near County Road 3063.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2014 Polaris side-by-side was eastbound when the driver lost control and the ATV rolled over.
Troopers say 29-year-old Cody Fanning, of Kirbyville, and a 7-year-old child were both injured.
Meanwhile, ambulances took the victims to the Trout Creek Fire Hall on Highway 87 where one medical helicopter landed on the helipad and another one landed on the highway, and then flew both victims to St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
There’s no word on their condition.
Later, Trout Creek Fire Department officials said “This is the first time in our department history that we had 2 landed at the same time. Just want to say a job well done to all our members and EMS and everyone that helped out today.”
