LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The Ellen Trout Zoo in Lufkin will be closed for the remainder of Tuesday, the City of Lufkin announced at 2:30 p.m. Communications Director Jessica Pebsworth announced that inclement weather caused a tree to fall on a public pathway on the zoo grounds, causing the need for a closure as the staff clears the path safely. The zoo will reopen Wednesday during regular hours, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last entry at 4:30 p.m. Pebsworth stressed the importance of being aware of the falling tree danger due to recent heavy rainfall and storms.
