LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Lufkin Police are responding to a shooting Tuesday night. According to Lufkin Police Department PIO Jessica Pebsworth, LPD is investigating a shooting that occurred around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Lotus Lane and Hill Street. A man reported being shot while riding as a backseat passenger in a car that was fired upon by another vehicle at the intersection. The victim is being flown to an out-of-town hospital for further treatment. As of 10:30 p.m., he was reported to be stable, Pebsworth said. A witness reported that Hill Street has been blocked off while police investigate. Evidence markers have been placed on the ground, seen near a Lufkin police car. Anyone with information is asked to call the Department at 936-633-0356 or Crime Stoppers at 936-639-TIPS. The report of gunshots, according to one witness, came from near or at the Little League ball fields. Pebsworth said that was not accurate.
