HUNTINGTON, Texas (KTRE) - A traffic stop turned into a pursuit with multiple agencies involved, leaving a car spiked and a suspect tased.
A Huntington police officer initiated a traffic stop at around 6:20 p.m. due to a red Dodge failing to signal and running a red light in Huntington, the police department posted.
They said the vehicle began driving at speeds up to and more than 100 miles per hour, traveling northbound on US Hwy 69. The Angelina County Sheriff’s office joined the pursuit near FM 841 as it continued towards Lufkin. Lufkin DPS joined shortly after.
Police said the fleeing vehicle wrecked into a cement culvert after being successfully spiked. The suspect, identified as Tyler Chase Ferguson, of Lufkin, exited the vehicle and was quickly taken into custody.
Ferguson was wanted for felony possession of controlled substance. He has been charged with evading and unlawful possession of firearm.
