KTRE 9 News in Lufkin is reporting that Lufkin Mall will go on the auction block on November 5th due to non-payment of delinquent taxes. The report cited the Angelina County Tax Assessor Collectors Office as saying that taxes for 2022 and 2023 have not been paid. The report said the owner of the mall, Lufkin Mall Realty Hollding LLC, owes more than $1 million dollars in taxes to the City of Lufkin, Angelina County, Angelina College, and Lufkin ISD. The auction notice says the property is valued at about $16.5 million dollars.
