BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - LSU will pay the University of Mississippi a fine of $250,000 after fans rushed the field Saturday in Death Valley. The Southeastern Conference announced the fine Sunday. LSU is being penalized for a violation of the league’s access to competition area policy. LSU defeated Ole Miss in overtime Saturday, Oct. 12.The final score was 26 - 29 LSU. This is LSU’s second offense this year under the league’s current access to competition area. LSU incurred a fine in February after fans stormed the floor of the PMAC following a buzzer-beater victory over Kentucky. Penalties range from $100,000 for a first offense, $250,000 for a second offense and $500,000 for a third and subsequent offenses. Fines are paid to the opposing institution.
