Longview man gets 60 years in prison for sexually assaulting little girl in 2013

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - A Longview man will spend up to sixty years in prison after a jury found him guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child late on Thursday. Darrell Dewayne Colbert, 54, pleaded not guilty to the 2013 assault of a seven-year-old girl, according to court information. A jury in the 124th District Court found him guilty Thursday after hearing evidence in that assault case and due to Colbert’s lengthy criminal history which they noted included numerous prior convictions for assault family violence, assault, and, violation of a protective order. Judge Rebecca Simpson sentenced Colbert to 60 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
