CARTAHAGE, Texas (KLTV) - Police have arrested a Longview man suspected of hitting a 5-year-old with his vehicle and driving away.
Jhavorry Demareo Crayton, 40, is charged with collision involving an injury, evading arrest and tampering or fabricating evidence with intent to impair.
According to the Carthage Police Department, the child was hit while on a motorized scooter Sunday in the 100 block of East Ash Street. Witnesses said the driver did not help the child and drove away, according to police.
According to the Carthage Police Department, Crayton was arrested Thursday afternoon in the 200 block of Eckmon Street in Longview after a warrant was issued for failing to stop and help the victim.
The condition of the child has not been released.
