Family members and friends are remembering 58-year-old Kevin Frasier of Port Neches as an adoring grandfather and loving family man whose death following a go-kart crash that injured his grandchildren is leaving an unimaginable void in their lives.
Frasier died Thursday at CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Hospital following the crash that injured his two grandchildren.
Port Neches Police Chief Cheri' Griffith released his name to KFDM/Fox 4, telling us his family has been notified.
The cause of the accident and his death are under investigation, according to the chief.
Family members tell KFDM doctors believe Kevin had a heart attack, leading to the accident. His two grandchildren were injured. One, Payne, was flown from CHRISTUS to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston for further treatment of injuries, including two broken arms. The other grandson, Paxton, has been released from CHRISTUS.
Kevin's sister and wife tell KFDM that Payne, despite suffering two broken arms and other injuries, was able to walk home after the crash and tell Kevin's wife what happened.
"Payne walked home and told me that he couldn't wake paw paw up and his arms hurt," said Techa. "He was a hero trying to get help. Iran over there but someone has already called 911."
