Polk County Today is reporting that a dump truck loaded with asphalt had a blowout, which caused it to veer off a highway, crash through a barrier, and then into Lake Livingston. It happened at about 4:00 Monday afternoon on the Highway 190 bridge over the lake. Fortunately, it landed in very shallow water. However, it crashed into logs by the shore of the lake and the sudden impact threw the driver out of the cab of the truck. State troopers said he was not wearing his seatbelt. The driver was a 70-year-old Houston resident and an ambulance crew transported him to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Meanwhile, a towing and recovery company had to drag the big dump truck out of the lake.
