NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - A Livingston man died Monday while on medical furlough from the Polk County Jail, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
On Friday, the sheriff’s office said Thomas Earl Boone, 70, of Livingston, suffered a medical issue and was rushed to CHI Livingston Hospital before hospital staff determined Boone needed a higher level of care, according to a press release.
The sheriff’s office released Boone from custody on a medical furlough, and he was sent to a Houston hospital, where he died Saturday while receiving medical treatment, according to a press release.
Boone had been jailed April 9 on two counts of aggravated assault of a family, date or household member with a weapon and a parole violation, according to jail records.
Charged with second-degree felonies, Boone potentially faced between two to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000 if convicted.
