Jacksonville man accused of kidnapping after burglarizing home, taking child into wooded area, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Texas (KTRE) - A Jacksonville man is behind bars after police say he broke into a home Wednesday and kidnapped a child in the 800 block of Myrtle Drive in Jacksonville.

Brian Damon Beck, 41, was held Wednesday at the Cherokee County Jail on unknown bonds for charges of burglary of a habiation, kidnapping and evading arrest or detention.

Jacksonville police responded around 1:01 p.m. to the 800 block of Myrtle Drive after a caller reported seeing Black carrying a child into a nearby wooded area, according to a press release.

Police immediately began searching the area, where they found the child unharmed and returned them to their mother, according to a press release.

Officers continued searching for Black, who was found in a wooded area in the 1000 block of Skyline before he attempted to flee, according to a press release.

He was arrested after a brief pursuit, according to police.
