LIVINGSTON, Texas (KTRE) - A Livingston ISD teacher was arrested after police said meth was found in a classroom at Livingston Junior High School.
The Livingston Police Department said school administrators contacted officers on March 12, after finding a suspicious substance on campus.
According to the LPD, investigators arrived and identified the substance as meth. Items commonly linked to drug use were also found.
Police said investigators interviewed witnesses and identified Amanda Stanzel, 38, of Livingston, as a person of interest. Authorities said Stanzel had already been taken to a hospital for treatment.
On Friday, March 13, officers interviewed Stanzel and later secured two arrest warrants for Stanzel.
Police said Stanzel was released from the hospital Wednesday and was taken into custody by Livingston police officers.
She was charged with abandoning/endangering a child, elderly person or disabled person, possession of a controlled substance in a drug-free zone and booked into the Polk County Jail on an $8,000 bond.
Police said there is no evidence at this time that any students came in contact with the drugs.
