What it's all about is unknown, but KJAS Radio News has learned that Lake Rayburn Fire Chief Brett Holloway and nine other members of the department have turned in their fire helmets
Reliable sources have said the departure of Holloway and the others was sparked by recent changes in policies as set forth by Jasper County Emergency Services District #4. However, Holloway who confirmed his resignation on Tuesday evening said he did not want to comment on the reasons for his resignation.
When asked who was serving in his capacity, Holloway said, "I'm not sure but my understanding is that the assistant, Jeremy Duke is in charge."
Word is that the department had 14 active volunteers prior to the resignations. However, that has not been confirmed.
Holloway, who has been a volunteer of the department since 1988 has served as chief since 1995 giving over him over 31 years of command.
In addition to serving as volunteer fire chief, Holloway who is also Jasper County Precinct 5 Justice of the Peace, a member of the Brookeland School Board and a mechanic.
Emergency Services District #4 provides funding and other support for the Lake Rayburn Fire Department along with 6 other departments in the north end of Jasper County.
