JASPER COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - A Kirbyville man was arrested after police say he threatened someone with a gun.
According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, deputies went to CR 451, just north of Kirbyville, Monday for reports of a man with a gun.
Once on the scene deputies learned the suspect, James Chaney, 43, of Kirbyville, had pointed a gun at another person who he believed had stolen something from him.
An investigation determined the person did not have any stolen property and the suspect was disarmed prior to deputies arriving.
Chaney was arrested for deadly conduct and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. He has been booked into the Jasper County jail.
