KILGORE, Texas (KLTV) - City crews and private contractors are working to clean up after many trees were knocked down by Tuesday’s storm.

An NWS crew has also been in Kilgore Wednesday afternoon. NWS said a tornado near Kilgore was confirmed by radar on Tuesday. On Wednesday, after surveying the area, the NWS confirmed the tornado was an EF1 with a peak estimated wind of 94 mph.

Several trees that fell on a house near Monroe and Simmons streets just south of R.E. St. John Stadium have been removed and much of the debris pushed to the curb. The city of Kilgore says some streets have been reopened while others remain blocked as workers clear debris. Power is still out in parts of the city, but SWEPCO is working to restore it.

The city also reports some people had their feeder lines pulled from their meter boxes. Homeowners are responsible for repairs before SWEPCO can restore power to those homes.

The city says it will continue working to remove storm debris.
