JHS senior student arrested for assaulting a teacher

Jasper Police Lieutenant Garrett Foster said Wednesday that a Jasper High School senior student who is accused of assaulting a teacher turned herself in and was booked into the Jasper County Jail shortly before the noon hour. This follows the issuance of an arrest warrant after she was accused of the crime. Foster has identified the suspect as 18-year-old Jordynn Lee, and he says at arraignment she'll be charged with Injury to an Elderly Person, due to the age of the alleged victim. Police said the investigation began on Thursday after a report that a student had attacked and assaulted 67-year-old Colleen Garcia, an English teacher. In fact, police said the same student was involved in another fight in the school that same day. School superintendent John Seybold said Monday "We are taking this very seriously.
