Jasper woman dies in auto accident near Colmesneil

A Jasper woman is reported to be dead following an auto accident that occurred on Monday near Colmesneil in nearby Tyler County.

Sergreant Shana Clark of the Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash occurred shortly after 8:00 am on Highway 69, just south of Colmesneil, when a 2020 Nissan was traveling north, while 2011 Toyota was traveling south.

Clark said all indications were that the Nissan drove on the wrong side of the road and struck Toyota head-on.

The driver of Toyota, 68-year-old Mai Thi Tran of Jasper, along with the the driver of Nissan, 31-year-old Alexandria Harvey of Colmesneil, were both pronounced dead at the scene by a Tyler County Justice of the Peace.

Two passengers, of the vehicles who were only identified as males, 28, and 22, were both transported to a hospital in Kingwood for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
