A Bon Weir woman went to jail Tuesday morning on multiple charges.
The Jasper County Sheriff’s Department says shortly after 7:00, deputies responded to a report of a man and woman fighting on the side of Highway 96 at County Road 907, just north of Buna.
The report said the woman, 31-year-old Veronica Melvin, left the scene in the man’s pickup truck before deputies arrived and he jumped into the bed of the truck and busted out the rear window and caused the truck to go off of Highway 96 and into a ditch.
Deputies arrived a short time later and inside the truck they found a candy box containing methamphetamine, and a rifle next to the drivers seat.
Melvin was taken to the Jasper County Jail where she was charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
