Investigators with the Jasper Police Department have apparently stepped up their investigation into a recent fight or altercation at a local apartment following the death of one of the individuals allegedly involved.
Police learned on Tuesday that Tommy Grant, 58, of Jasper died while undergoing treatment at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston for the injuries he received on Tuesday May 26th at the Prospect Point Apartments on Premier Drive.
Officers say following the incident Grant was transported to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital, where he was treated, before being transferred to the hospital in Houston.
Police Chief Garrett Foster said Wednesday that a coroner in Houston had ordered an autopsy in the case and he and others are waiting for the findings of that autopsy and the result of toxicology and other tests as they move forward with the investigation.
Sources outside the police department that do not wish to be named have told KJAS that the fight or dispute resulted from an argument about money.
