Jasper Police say new K-9 Mak is already proving to be a great asset

Jasper Police say their new K-9, Mak, is already proving to be a great asset for the department and he was very busy on Tuesday. According to Lieutenant Garrett Foster, at about 9:00am Mak began tracking down a man with felony warrants who had fled from officers through a wooded area. Foster said the dog led officers to 31-year-old Alexander Bowen, who was hiding in a shed. Foster said Bowen was wanted for two counts of Arson and he also had a Parole Violation warrant. At about 4:00 in the afternoon, Foster said officers saw a man with felony warrants, 35-year-old Richard Maiden, who got out of a car on the Ramada Inn parking lot and fled on foot when he saw police. Again, Mak tracked him down and officers arrested him. Foster said Maiden was wanted for Burglary and Possession of Controlled Substance, and Jasper County Jail records show he was also charged with Bail Jumping, Failure to Appear, and Public Order Crimes.
