JASPER, Texas (KTRE) - A Jasper man accused of shooting another man in the head has turned himself in.
According to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, Mureia Donta Napoleon, 47, of Jasper turned himself in around 4:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon following an earlier phone call from Sheriff Chuck Havard.
According to JCSO, shortly before midnight on Friday deputies responded to a venue known as “The Barn” located on CR 119 in Jasper on reports of a shooting.
Authorities say a 40-year-old man was shot in the head and taken to a hospital in a private vehicle before deputies arrived.
Witnesses claimed the victim had gotten into an argument with Napoleon when he pulled a gun and shot the victim.
Havard says he obtained Napoleon’s phone number after the incident and called him to tell him to turn himself in by 4:00 p.m. Saturday.
Napoleon was booked into the Jasper County Jail Saturday afternoon and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to the sheriff’s office, the victim is still in the hospital and is stable.
