Jasper Co deputies investigating large burglary in Gist Community

Law enforcement will tell you that drug addiction creates crime. Fortunately, Jasper County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Scotty Duncan says that deputies had several drug arrests over the last weekend, removing a lot of drugs from the street. However, crime still continues and Duncan says a large criminal act occurred in the Gist Community where a home was burglarized. According to Duncan, it happened at a house on County Road 822, also known as Gist Road, which is about 10 miles southeast of Buna and right on the Jasper/Newton County line. Duncan said investigators have gathered key information and have identified suspects. He also said that it’s believed that this crime is connected to at least one other crime, which was a theft case in another county.
