MANSFIELD, La. -- DeSoto police jurors Thursday afternoon unanimously approved an interim appointment as parish coroner. Dr. Stacey Henderson of Stonewall will serve in the position until a special election is held next year. Henderson replaces Dr. Jeffrey Evans, who resigned Wednesday following a multi-count indictment on prescription drug fraud charges. Evans, who was in his third term as parish coroner, will make his initial appearance in federal court at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Henderson is an emergency medicine specialist at Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport. She is married to Dr. Neil Henderson, a Stonewall veterinarian and DeSoto Parish School Board member.
