The Texas Department of Public Safety says a 35-year-old Kirbyville man was injured in two vehicle auto accident that occurred shortly before 2:00 on Sunday morning just off of Highway 96, and south of Roganville Road, between Jasper and Kirbyville.
Officers said a preliminary crash investigation indicated that that an eighteen wheeled tractor trailer was traveling north in the outside lane, while a Toyota SUV was traveling north in the inside lane. It is reported that the driver of the Toyota traveled into the outside lane and struck the left side of the trailer, losing control and causing the vehicle to turn over.
The driver of the Toyota, Rudy Bonzon, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck tractor, identified as 43-year-old Edwin Gonzales, of Mexico, was not injured.
