A Wednesday fire in a warehouse at a Port Neches industrial plant sent thick black smoke over the town, and also resulted in a temporary shelter-in-place order for the nearby Port Neches-Groves High School & Middle School. It happened at the Lion Elastomers plant in the northeast end of Port Neches and, according to firefighters, it was liquid latex that was burning. Both the Port Neches and Nederland Fire Departments battled the blaze and had it out around 2:00pm. There were no reports of injuries and no word on how the fire may have started.
