The Texas Department of Transportation says an improvement project on the Highway 190 Neches River Bridge at Dam B began on Tuesday. TXDOT spokeswoman Tanya Avila says traffic over that section of highway will be down to one lane through the end of July. Meanwhile, Avila says the entire project to improve that stretch of highway is expected to last until the summer of 2026. The bridge is 83-years-old and is listed as a landmark in the National Register of Historic Places.
