MANSFIELD, La. -- A traffic stop Tuesday in Frierson led to an arrest and seizure of hundreds of pills containing fentanyl, the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office said Thursday in a news release. The arrest of Christopher Darby, 33, of Mansfield, was the result of an investigation the Tri-Parish Drug Task Force has conducted over the past few months into the illegal sales of drugs in the parish.  The Street Level Interdiction Unit deputies and the K-9 Unit carried out the traffic stop. They found 583 ecstasy pills suspected of containing fentanyl and a firearm, the sheriff's office said. From there, the deputies went to Darby's home, where 933 more ecstasy pills were found. Darby was booked into the DeSoto Detention Center on the following charges:

  • Possession of Schedule I (fentanyl) with intent to distribute
  • Possession of Schedule II (hydrocodone)
  • Possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS
  • Two counts of distribution of Schedule I (ecstasy)
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Window tint violation
