TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Tyler police say that the human remains found on May 5 have been identified as Jose Alejandro “Alex” Perez of Tyler. Perez has been missing since April 26. The Tyler Police Department stated that they received the information Wednesday from the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences of Dallas that identified Perez, whose remains were discovered on May 5, 2024, by the Smith County Sheriff’s Office. Police did not say what the cause of death was. The Tyler Police Department is working closely with the Smith County Sheriff’s Office as they proceed with this investigation.
