Human remains found in Ringgold

RINGGOLD, La. - The discovery of human remains Friday in Ringgold is under investigation by the Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff John Ballance said Ringgold police asked for the sheriff’s office’s help after finding human remains, assorted clothing and other items in a wooded area at the end of Pine Street. The Bienville Parish coroner collected the remains and will submit them to a forensic pathologist to determine an identity and cause of death. Authorities have not said if there could be a connection to a report of a missing Ringgold man. Donavan Damon Brooks, 40, was last seen around Sept. 26. His family reported him missing on Oct. 19. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans shorts and white tennis shoes. During the investigation it was alleged he had been bitten by a dog but that had not been confirmed, Chief Freddie Peterson said in a news release.
