A house was destroyed by fire in Hemphill early Wednesday morning. It happened shortly before 7:00 at 720 Mann Street, about 3 blocks south of the Courthouse Square. According to Hemphill Fire Chief Glenn Chance, it was a very old house that was constructed with pine wood, which resulted in the flames quickly spreading and consuming the structure. Chance said there were no injuries and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Sabine County tax records show that the house was owned by Rex Ebarb, Jr.
