GILMER, Texas (KLTV) - A Gilmer ISD school bus carrying four students was hit by a car which had plowed through a fallen tree Tuesday afternoon. Superintendent Rickey Albritton said the incident happened on FM 726 near the intersection of Bobwhite Road at around 5 p.m. The GISD bus was northbound and had come to a stop when the driver saw a tree in the road. A southbound vehicle came through the tree and struck the front of the bus, going under the bumper. The driver of the car was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The four children on the bus and the bus driver were not injured, Albritton said. The bus was near the end of its route. Parents were notified and the children were taken to their homes. The bus sustained damage to the front bumper.
