Friends remember Louisiana wildlife officer for his zest for life

BOSSIER CITY, La. - Many in our community are still reeling from the devastating loss of a local wildlife and fisheries officer. Zachary Funderburk, 27, was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident last week in Shreveport. The lives he touched in a positive way are countless. Close to 500 people are members of his memory page on Facebook. He graduated from and was a wrestler at Parkway High School in south Bossier City. He worked at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries for less than a year, and those who spoke about him said he absolutely loved his job and his passing leaves a huge void in the lives of so many. "Man, there's a lot to tell about Zac, life, he loved life," said Joe Harper, a lifelong friend. "Zac knew how to live life, it's like he understood it. He understood that it was limited. To put it in a few words, he didn't take any day for granted, he didn't. His friends, he cherished," said Amy Dunn, another lifelong friend. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday for Zachary Funderburk at Asbury United Methodist Church on Airline Drive in Bossier City.
