Four people in custody in connection with Sunday morning mass shooting

Four people are now in custody in connection with the mass shooting that took place on Sunday morning in Jasper. Complete details are not available but a spokesman for the jasper County Sheriff's Department, Karl Cherry says the first arrest came on Thursday afternoon after deputies from the Jasper County Sheriff's Department and others served a search warrant at a home near the Newton High School. A short time later it was learned that two more suspects had been arrested in the case one on Wednesday and another on Thursday evening. So far, the Jasper County Sheriffs Department has declined to say where the suspects are being held. However, Beauregard Parish Sheriff Mark Hereford has confirmed that two of the suspects were arrested in Louisiana and both men are being held in the Beauregard Parish Jail in DeRidder. Officers say the two were working on a logging site when they were taken into custody. KJAS has also learned through reliable sources now say that the third suspect was already being held on an unrelated charge in Tyler County, where he was also served with a warrant on Wednesday charging him with involvement in the shooting here. However, the name of the fourth suspect or where he was taken into custody has not been released. The names and other information have not been made available. However, officers say a press conference will be held at 9:00 on Friday morning at the Jasper County Sheriff's Department and it is expected that Sheriff Mitchel Newman will provide more details. Word is that an extradition hearing will take place sometime on Friday to determine when the two suspects arrested in Louisiana will be brought back to jasper County as is required by the State of Louisiana. KJAS News has learned that the arrest warrants were obtained by the jasper Police Department apparently as a result of their investigation into the shooting that occurred on the southeast side of jasper at the intersection of Bevil Loop Road and Valley Drive a few minutes after the mass shooting had occurred at the home on County Road 263, north of Jasper. A total of 11 people ranging in ages from 15 to 19 were injured in the shooting that rang out during an after prom party.
