Four people are dead following a single vehicle auto accident that occurred early Monday morning near the small community of Erin, between Jasper and Kirbyville.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash occurred shortly before 1:00 on Farm to Market Road 252, about a mile north of the intersection of FM-1005.
The accident is still under investigation, but troopers say it appears that the crash occurred when the 2019 Nissan, which was traveling north as a high rate of speed, failed to make it around a curve, and struck a tree before bursting into flames.
The driver and three passengers were pronounced dead at the scene by a Jasper County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Mike Smith. However, officers are waiting for an autopsy and positive identification of the deceased before releasing any additional information.
The fire was extinguished and the bodies were recovered by the volunteers of the Tri-Community Fire Department at Magnolia Springs.
