Former Port Neches Fire Chief Paul Nelson arrested again on child sex crime charges

Former Port Neches Fire Chief Paul Edward Nelson, 57, is in trouble – again – and law enforcement says it is again related to child sex crimes. Nelson was originally arrested in January of 2021 on a charge of Promotion and Possession of Child Pornography. That arrest came after the Child Exploitation Unit of the Texas Attorney General's Office said an investigation revealed the crime after a tip came in through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Following his arrest in Jefferson County, Nelson bonded out of jail and he still faces prosecution in that case. In the meantime, Nelson moved to Montgomery County where earlier this week he was arrested on charges of Online Solicitation of a Minor and Possession with Intent to Promote Child Pornography. According to Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable Ryan Gable, Nelson has been messaging online a child under the age of 14 who lives in The Woodlands. Gable also said “Nelson sent and requested explicit photos of child sexual assault material to the known juvenile victim." At last word, Nelson remained in the Montgomery County Jail under a combined total bond of $200,000.00.
