A former Newton County Sheriff’s Department dispatcher has been arrested after she allegedly had sexual contact with a Newton County Jail inmate. Kaitlyn Busey, 28, of Jasper, has been charged with Violating the Civil Rights of a Person in Custody/Sexual. Newton County Sheriff Robert Burby said after the Texas Rangers obtained a warrant for her arrest, she surrendered at the Jasper County Jail and has since been released under a $25,000.00 bond. The arrest of Busey followed a lengthy investigation by the Texas Rangers which began in the summer of 2023, and Busey was terminated from her job shortly thereafter.
