DERIDDER, La. (KPLC) - A former DeRidder police officer is behind bars after an arrest on charges including rape.
William Robert Reid, 38, was arrested by his former agency on April 3 on charges of domestic abuse battery - strangulation, aggravated assault with a firearm, and second-degree rape.
The charges stem from an incident in March, DeRidder Deputy Chief Darren Hall said. According to jail records, Reid is being held without bond.
Reid worked for the police department between 2018 and 2020, Hall said. He resigned after complaints were filed against him, leading to an internal affairs investigation.
No evidence of criminal activity was found in 2020, Hall said. The current investigation is unrelated.
