Fire destroys pickup truck on Olive Street

Faulty electrical wiring is thought to be the cause of a fire that destroyed a pickup truck on Monday just north of Downtown Jasper. The volunteers of the Jasper Fire Department were dispatched to the 442 block of Olive Street shortly after 2:00 when it was reported that a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup truck was on fire in front of Liz McClurg Realty. Firemen quickly arrived at the scene to find the engine compartment of the truck engulfed in flames and fire coming out through the grill, but soon had the fire under control. The owner of the truck, Chad Adams of Jasper said he was at the real estate office moving furniture and other items for the owner when he looked out to see his truck on fire. The truck was a complete loss, but no injuries resulted from the incident.
