A burning candle is thought to be the cause of a fire that destroyed a home here in Jasper on Saturday morning. Firemen and other emergency personnel were dispatched to 730 State Street, near the entrance to the Jasper Youth Baseball Association Park, shortly before 9:00 when it was reported that the mobile home was on fire. The firemen arrived at the scene to find flames coming from the front windows and door of the structure prompting them to immediately call for help from both the Beech Grove and East End Fire Departments. Despite their efforts, the home was completely destroyed. The resident of the home, Tyrone Payne reportedly told firemen that he had no electricity or gas and that he was using a candle for light when it rolled over on the couch setting it on fire. No injuries resulted from the incident.
