Emergency crews were on the scene of a fiery fatal accident in extreme northwest Jasper County on Tuesday afternoon. It happened at about 4:00 on U.S. Highway 69 at County Road 008 in the Rockland Community. Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Shana Clark says a northbound 18-wheeler was stopped due to construction when it was hit from behind by a Ford F-150 pickup truck. After impact, the truck caught on fire and became fully engulfed in flames. The Angelina River, Colmesneil, and Zavalla Fire Departments were all sent to the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene and as of late Tuesday night Sergeant Clark said the driver had not yet been identified.
