Newton County Constable Howie Wonders is asking everyone to keep a Deweyville family in their prayers after a devastating fire on Easter destroyed their home and claimed the life of their puppy,
The fire broke out on County Road 4191 and the home is a total loss.
Wonders said “After talking with the family, it appears this may have been caused by either a faulty electrical connection a window AC unit was plugged into or the AC unit itself." Wonders also said “Thank you Deweyville Volunteer Fire Department and Orange County ESD for your hard work. When these older homes catch on fire there's almost no saving them. They can become fully involved in a matter of minutes. The family has my number and was told if they need anything to get in touch. If they do, I will be reaching out.”
No injuries resulted from the incident. However, the family is obviously grieving the loss of their dog.
