Officers with the Jasper County Sheriff's Department said late Saturday that a man from Evadale had been arrested after it was reported that he had fired a gun in his mother's home near Buna, in the south end of the County.

Deputies said the incident occurred shortly after 3:00 pm at the residence on County Road 718, just off of Reese Road.

The report said the suspect, Henry Maze, 38 was also accused of firing one of the shots in the direction of his mother. However, they said it didn't hit her and no one was injured in the incident.

Meza was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm-Family Violence and being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm along with at least one other unrelated crime, was at last word, still being held in the Jasper County Jail.
