An elderly man with a gun in Polk County reportedly acted erratically, and then killed himself in front of two state troopers. Polk County Today is reporting that it happened shortly before 2:00 Tuesday afternoon along Highway 146 in the Providence Community, which is southeast of Livingston. Callers to 911 reported that the man, who was 93 years old, was driving a golf cart on the shoulder of the highway. The report said when DPS Troopers Ramey Bass and Cotye Lowrie arrived, Trooper Lowrie told dispatchers “Shots fired, he shot himself”. The name of the man has not yet been released and the incident remains under investigation.
