The volunteers of the East End Fire Department quickly tapped out a fire in the engine compartment of a logging sheer on Monday. It happened during the noon hour on County Road 274, about 2.5 miles east of Jasper. Firefighters in bunker gear worked to extinguish the flames in sweltering heat with the temperature in the low 90’s. There were no reports of any injuries.
