Early Tuesday morning pursuit ended with an arrest

An early Tuesday morning pursuit started in Jasper County and ended in Newton County with the arrest of Merryville, Louisiana resident Ralph Borrego, age 43.

According to the report, it started at about 1:35am on Farm to Market Road 363 in Kirbyville when a Jasper County deputy tried to stop a Ford Taurus which had no license plates. Borrego fled into Newton County and wrecked at the intersection of County Roads 4075 and 4070 in Bon Wier.

The report said Borrego then tried to flee on foot, but was quickly captured.

Once in custody, the report said deputies found marijuana and methamphetamine.

Borrego was taken to the Jasper County Jail and charged with Evading Arrest with a Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
