An early morning fire has destroyed a home on the southeast side of Jasper. The volunteers of both the Jasper and East End Fire Departments were dispatched to home in the 1700 block of Suncrest Circle, just off of Bevil Loop Road, shortly before 5:00 on Wednesday morning when it was reported that the house was on fire. Firemen arrived to find the single wide mobile home completely engulfed in flames and immediately went to work battling the blaze and within short time had brought it under control. Jasper Fire Marshal and Fire Chief Brandon Duckworth said it was believed that the fire began in or around the top of a kitchen stove and quickly spread. Duckworth said the owner of the residence, Zerrick Simmons was home when the fire broke out but was able to get out of the house without any injuries. There were nearby structures and firemen are being praised for being able to keep the fire from spreading. It was the second major fire this year on the same street. In August another fire destroyed a home only about 200 feet away.
