A driver went to jail following a short pursuit late Monday morning in Jasper. Jasper Police Sergeant Jimmy Neel filed a report stating that he tried to stop a car on Fletcher at Milam, but the driver continued to the corner of Crockett at Highway 96. The report said the driver, 49-year-old Arthur McFarland, claimed that another man was driving the car and he fled on foot. However, Neel said he soon determined that McFarland was actually the driver. Sergeant Neel said McFarland finally admitted that he was the driver. McFarland was arrested and taken to the Jasper County Jail to be charged with Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle.
