Driver and passenger escape fiery crash following a police chase in Beaumont

Police in Beaumont say a teenage driver and his passenger are lucky to be alive following a fiery crash that occurred there on Saturday evening following a police chase. Officers said the chase begin when a patrol officer saw the driver commit multiple traffic violations and tried to pull the 2018 Chevrolet over near Stilton Street on the city's north side. The pursuit continued south until it reached thee 3000 block Hollywood Street where the driver apparently lost control and wrecked the vehicle which burst into flames. The 16-year-old driver was placed under arrest and he was taken the hospital where he was checked out before being taken to a juvenile detention center. The passenger which was said to be a 15-year-old female, was released to a parent.
