MANSFIELD, La. -- A DeSoto Parish sheriff's deputy who worked as a school resource officer has been fired following an off-duty DWI arrest, the sheriff's office said Tuesday.
Kamari Clay was arrested by Shreveport police Saturday night following an incident in his DPSO patrol unit. He was charged with DWI and reckless operation of a vehicle.
DPSO supervisors responded to the scene and followed up with their own investigation. As a result, Clay was additionally charged in DeSoto Parish for misuse of a sheriff's patrol unit and improper exercise of his official authority while acting outside the scope of his assigned duties, the sheriff's office said.
Clay was fired prior to his arrest on the DeSoto charges.

He had been employed since May 2022 and served as a SRO at the Mansfield schools -- most recently at Mansfield High.https://www.ktbs.com/news/dpso-sro-fired-following-dwi-arrest/article_6a2ebe1c-c591-48ac-95d3-7dac71e7a86e.html
